The Sun Protection Outreach Teaching by Students (SPOTS) Program is a community outreach program that teaches adolescents about the importance of skin cancer prevention and early detection. The program started over a decade ago and has spread to 24 medical schools across the country. They are hoping to expand the reach of the program to help prevent more youth from developing skin cancer. With this program, medical students work with their local middle and high schools to give a 45 minute presentation about the basics of skin cancer and the importance of good skin protection practices. Traditionally the program is taught in person but they also have a virtual friendly program. They organization will provide all necessary material to teach, such as PowerPoints and script.
